Playfully Perimeter: Summer Field Day Brings Community and Connection

If you didn’t get to play Game Show Battle Rooms’ The Drop or compete for a Playfully prize box in our limbo contest, you surely missed out. Playfully Perimeter’s first public pop-up, Play It Cool, brought 120+ people to Perimeter Summit’s greenspace this August for a day of all-ages fun and games.

If you don’t know yet, Playfully Perimeter is a free pop-up series that transforms local spaces through interactive art, music and more from local Perimeter highlights. Explore everything you missed out on (or feel the good vibes again) in our Play It Cool recap.

The f in fun stands for “free stuff” (we choose to believe). That’s why we kicked off the party with free toys and merch from Perimeter, scoops of gelato from Honeysuckle gelato, and craft beers from Mutation Brewing Company. Folks trickled in from work, home, or elsewhere around the district to grab a treat and enjoy the sun with shady seats and a live DJ. 86 visitors took our Perimeter personality quiz, which recommends a night out to fit your vibe. Take it for yourself here!

Guests stopped by the Wish Garden to share something they love in Perimeter—or something they want more of—and add their ribbon to the rainbow walls! Visitors, residents, and employees alike added their hopes and dreams to create a walk-through view of the neighborhood’s future.

Once they got their treats, guests settled in to play yard games, hula hoop, and compete for prizes in Game Show Battle Rooms’ challenges. Between the colorful Jenga and sidewalk chalk, the summer vacay vibes were going strong.

Finally, it was time for our contests! Players hooped their hardest for a Playfully Perimeter box prize. Some superstars even spun multiple hula hoops at once, but only one person stayed in the longest and won a Playfully jersey, purple socks, and other exclusive goodies.

Once everyone saw the prize boxes up for grabs, the heat was on for the limbo contest. We ran two lines, one for kids and one for grown-ups, moving just a little lower until contestants couldn’t bend back anymore! A bright, bouncy relay race finished the group games with a bouncing ball track and sack race run. Kids of every size hopped as fast as they could toward the purple end line.

We had a blast bringing summer nostalgia and unfiltered fun to the Perimeter community. Thanks to everyone that stopped by for a treat, to snap a pic, or just to chill! The next Playfully Perimeter pop-up is already in the works. Sign up and be the first to hear about our pop-up plans:  perimeteratl.com/playfully.
